The Suffolk Inn was built by City Builders in 1972 and then owned by Paddy Mulholland, from then it has changed hand a number of times to when Seamy Hughes owned it when he renamed it The Swilly Brin, this was because the surrounding streets were named after towns in Donegal. In Donegal there was a lake called Swilly Lake.

In 2006 Tony Clatrke and Dougie Adams rebuild The Suffolk Inn to the front of the Suffolk Road and the old Suffolk Inn (Swilly Brin) was demolished.

Over the year The Suffolk Inn has employed a large number of people in the area and also there are many a love story in The Old Suffolk Inn were people met fell in love and even married.
